The 5 Best Cryptocurrencies to Buy in 2025
It is now the year 2025. Cryptocurrency has been a part of society for nearly 16 years since its advent in 2009. Whether or not you are currently investing, you may be curious about what cryptocurrencies would be the best to buy in this coming year.
Although we cannot provide any official investing advice, we have put together this list to give you an idea of some of the best cryptocurrencies to buy in 2025.
1. Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin is always the best cryptocurrency to buy. It has the longest track record, is decentralized, and is now widely accepted around the world. Even if you decide to exit the market someday, Bitcoin will be useful as you can spend it on things.
We, obviously, cannot predict what this year holds for Bitcoin, but based on its past performance, we feel that BTC is poised to hold its value better than any other cryptocurrency. What’s more is that it is the most popular cryptocurrency, meaning you can purchase it on any exchange you please.
Of course, Bitcoin is also the most expensive cryptocurrency, though even a small investment can be worthwhile. But if the price turns you off, or you want to own more than a partial token of something, keep reading.
2. Ethereum (ETH)
After Bitcoin, Ethereum has the best and longest-standing track record. Although it became mainstream much later than Bitcoin, since it has, it has held steady in price and proved its worth for investors.
Ethereum is useful, and it is becoming more useful everyday thanks to frequent upgrades by the intelligent and capable team. While we don’t expect you would amass money as quickly with Ethereum as you would Bitcoin, it is a solid investment.
What’s more is that once you purchase Ethereum, you can stake it, and grow your portfolio that way. Like Bitcoin, Ethereum carries risk, but much less than other altcoin projects. Ethereum is additionally easy to purchase, as it is available on most major exchanges.
3. Solana (SOL)
Similar to Ethereum, the Solana platform has a positive track record and fulfills a need in the cryptocurrency community. Known for its vast capabilities and interconnect ability, Solana is used for building and executing dapps.
While Solana isn’t quite as stable as Ethereum, it’s been on the top charts in terms of market cap for a long time and the individuals behind the project are reputable. It is notably riskier than an investment in Ethereum or Bitcoin, but it’s been around long enough that we are fairly confident it isn’t a scam nor will it suddenly drop to zero one day.
Many individuals believe that 2025 will be the year Solana (SOL) reaches the price point of $500 per coin.
4. Binance Coin (BNB)
Binance Coin is an interesting token because it is a utility and governance coin for the Binance centralized exchange. While we aren’t really a fan of centralized projects, we do admit that Binance has taken the cryptocurrency world by storm and has a stellar track record as an exchange.
Investing in Binance Coin is a bit like investing in an asset—you’re money will grow as the asset grows in popularity. Binance has already announced several improvements in the coming year meaning this might be a good bet. Just know that when you invest in Binance Coin you are investing in a company, so it will feel a bit different than other crypto investments.
5. Cardano (ADA)
For those looking for a budget cryptocurrency that may lead to monetary returns, we recommend checking out Cardano. Cardano is a blockchain similar to Solana, but on a much smaller scale.
Personally, we prefer Solana over Cardano, but both are run under similar beliefs and growth trajectories—Cardano is just a bit behind Solana. We always prefer proven projects over popular ones, so if you want something that has proven to be a good investment, choose Solana instead.
But, if you are willing to take a little more risk in return for a bit larger of a reward, then Cardano (ADA) might be the right choice for you. Just know that this token doesn’t appear to be anticipating major price spikes anytime soon.
Tokens NOT to Buy in 2025
Just as we try to provide sound and reasonable investing advice to help you make the most informed decisions with your money, we also have a few tokens we would like to recommend against investing in 2025. They are as follows.
Dogecoin (DOGE)
Dogecoin is a popular memecoin right now, thanks to Elon Musk, but that is all it is. Unlike our other recommendations, this token is not backed by technology nor a good track record. It could crash to absolutely zero at any time and could very well be a rug pull scheme. Anyone who presses you to buy this token is just hoping to get the hype to spike again so they can cash out.
Ripple (XRP)
Ripple isn’t necessarily a bad project, but its ongoing struggles with the SEC aren’t making us hopeful. While fans believe the outcome will be positive, we worry it may not be. Additionally, we question some of the past moves of the creators of the token and wonder if it will really live up to its hype.
For now, skip buying this token until the SEC issues its final ruling—just in case.
Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB)
Shiba Inu Coin is just the Temu version of Dogecoin. Like the aforementioned memecoin, it has no inherent value, and it is competing directly with the ever-popular DOGE. Not only is this token valued lower than Dogecoin, but it also isn’t predicted to rise as much in value in the coming year. If you really and truly want a memecoin, stick to DOGE because at least that is less likely to be a rug-pull scheme than this project.
Overall, what you choose to invest in during this coming year is 100% up to you, but we do recommend discussing any potential financial investments with someone you trust before placing them. Remember, never invest any money you aren’t prepared to lose.
